What we collect, and who can see it

Written in plain language rather than in the usual defensive register, because the whole product depends on students trusting the private parts to actually be private.

This describes how the product is designed to handle your data and is accurate to that design. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and is not the final policy. It will be replaced with a reviewed version, covering the specific data-protection law of each market we operate in, before the app launches.

The line that matters most.

Everything below is detail. This is the part worth understanding: there are two categories of information, and the boundary between them is enforced in the product rather than promised in a document.

The wall is deliberate. A student who believes a parent reads their reflections writes nothing worth reading.

01 · What we collect

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, your email address, and what you are studying. The email address is how you sign in — we send a six-digit code to it — and there is no password.
  • Assessment answers: your responses to the Know Me questions and to any deeper instrument you complete later.
  • Work you submit: recordings, files, written answers and project write-ups that you choose to send for review.
  • Reflections: your journal entries.
  • Activity: which lessons you opened, what you completed, and when — used to build your plan and spot when you have stopped.

What we do with it

  • Produce your growth profile and keep it current as you develop.
  • Build and adjust your plan, and decide what appears on your Today screen.
  • Pass the specific piece of work you submitted to the mentor reviewing it — and only that piece, for only that dimension.
  • Spot patterns that suggest you need a person rather than more content, and offer that.
  • Understand, in aggregate and without identifying anyone, which parts of the product actually help students improve.

03 · Who can see what

Who can see what

  • Mentors see the work you send them and the dimension they are reviewing. Not your reflections, not your assessment answers, not your counselling conversations.
  • Counsellors see only their own conversations with you. That is walled off from every other mentor, from parents and from institutions.
  • A linked parent sees your growth profile, goals, progress, participation, verified achievements and mentor recommendations. They never see reflections, counselling notes, raw assessment answers, or unsubmitted drafts.
  • A linked institution sees aggregate readiness across its own students, and your individual progress only if you have consented to that specific link.
  • You are shown exactly what a linked parent or institution can see, at the point the link is made.

04 · What we will not do

What we will not do

  • We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
  • We do not use your reflections or counselling conversations to train models.
  • We do not show your profile to employers or recruiters unless you explicitly share it.
  • We do not rank you against other students anywhere in the product, and we do not give anyone a league table.
  • We do not pass anything to a parent that this page says they cannot see, including on request.

05 · Your control

Your control

  • You can export your growth profile and portfolio at any time.
  • You can delete your account, which removes your profile, submissions and reflections.
  • You can unlink a parent or an institution.
  • You can ask what we hold about you and get a copy.
  • Deleting a submission that has already been reviewed removes it from your portfolio, but the score movement it caused is retained in the audit trail — otherwise your profile history would stop being traceable.

06 · Students under 18

Students under 18

  • A parent or guardian consents to the account for a student under 18, and can see the parent view described above.
  • The private categories stay private regardless of age. A fifteen-year-old's reflections and counselling conversations are not visible to a parent, and this is deliberate — a student who believes those are read writes nothing useful in them.
  • If we ever need to break that in a genuine safeguarding situation, we will tell the student that we are doing it.

07 · Asking us

Questions about any of this, or a request to see, export or delete what we hold — email us and a person will answer. Parents are welcome to ask before their child signs up; it is a reasonable thing to check.
